Take any note and play on the vocal chord from to . It creates melody like seven notes in music. These are variations we can make. Its nothing but the mixture of 16 Vowels (moons) with 33 basic Consonants (Suns or Fire). Each constant on the same scale of 16. We will consider the 12 here excluding . for timebeing.

12 vowels

The pure consonants can not stand by themselves for long. They need an association with any one of the vowels. In our case one of these  .

When in practical one does not pronounce vowels and consonant separate in time then it is most logical to write it in one pattern to reflect the same. Logically the vowels mixed with a consonant surrenders his existence to show the union and remains rather as an accessory to the consonant. The accessories in Devanagari looks like follows and the consonants dock it to self –

Till now we introduced children to the basic ingredients of the recipe. We are to the next step of mixing consonants and vowels. It is so logical, that  you do not need to by-hard/ memorise the spellings like we do in other languages based on the roman script. Isn’t it a relief and sort of saving bio energy!   I prepared a big chart and explained in the classroom.Observe any Indian script. You will find the same concept. Our appearances may be different state-wise but our cores are the same. We are already integrated on same skeleton.

You can create your own pattern and use it. That’s is the reason why the epicentre of the scripts and dialects falls in and around India. Now my students understand each others linguistically.

By now my kids sing this song for any alphabet as we do in every class regularly for few weeks.

My next task is to make them remember it easily. I made a story of Mr K.

  1. Master K is born. He has nothing when he born.
  2.  He is growing slowly. He holds a stick to the right.
  3. Now he puts a cap on his head and moves the stick to the left.
  4. he is funny. rotates his cap to the right and stick as well.
  5. he is enjoying it. One day he wore my  one shoe to the left.
  6. Then he tried it to his right.
  7. He is getting confident. He can hold a single stick up in the sky.
  8. He want more, so he hold two sticks in the sky.
  9. He is becoming smart. Holding a stick to right and one pointing up.
  10.  Now pointing two sticks up with one in hand.
  11. He want to play with a ball, throwing up.
  12. He is on his own now. Giggling with two balls on a side.

I repeated the story twice/ thrice and  showed them this picture-

The letters can be  living beings. They did not forget the song and wont forget the story. The vocal pattern is linked to the visualisation. The part of variation is done. Now just the diagraph and our class will complete the reading and writing Devanagari. Its so simple and the best. What if one ignores it, drops it unknowingly and again search for linguistic excellence!.
