Even before starting to teach kids I was under the impression that A for ‘A’pple is same as for ‘A’mol. How many examples I could present to the kids in English which start with our first Vowel? Swara- Vowels are the sound created without friction, strike or obstruction. The figure shown here shows the locations of vowels created, but without touch. These vowels are 16 in general. We can explore more in details but not now and here. Lets keep the things simple and easy to start with. Even one vowels is identified when the sound is bypassed through the nose. All-together they are drawn like below in Devnagari. The other scripts have their own design/ pattern but the phonetics are same. They may have some omission or addition for intermediate scale.
