Words are not just the means or the tools to operate. Collectively words have their own psychology. The words not only just convey merely the meaning and disappear but they pass the obtained knowledge to the generations. Hence it is called Akshar – Na sharate eti-that which cannot be destroyed. The words do not diminish but disappear triggering the emotions. If it is nurturing the minds then its a medium otherwise it is an operational tool. When we look at the derivation of the Indian words, they are mainly adjectives. It tells us more about the property of the object as if it is living part of operational system of world. Hence in Indian etymology even the worldly objects got genders and emotions. Some of the words are yet don’t have equivalent in other foreign languages so need to be described with limited meaning. The words hold the meanings. Meanings get lost with the words , if the words are not in use and so the carried emotions attached with them also get lost.
If there is at all strength and taste of India, it is mainly due to the continuous passing of knowledge through the words its has been in use for millions of years. It is national asset or soft / intellectual property of India. We are rich in that way ! There are only forms or sound around, nothing else.
Our individual mind is operational on the collective words we have gathered till now in time. Every moment it makes meaningful sentences and makes us behave accordingly. It is amazing to study the etymology of the Indian words. PANINI enumerates 2000 basic root words, that creates millions of the words with permutation and combinations. The roots are sets of actions in the world arranged in groups. When these are built together, the framework is called Sanskrut (Sanskrut means that which makes a balanced personality). Naming Sanskrut as one of the languages is a childish mistake. Sanskrut is a framework of Bhasha. It is an operating system of Indian and many Foreign languages. Who knows how far it might have reached in prosperous days beyond the boundaries when we were proudly using it for our livelihood!
We need to study our Social Science along with the languages we have!
